Specialists in XR
for the life sciences

A team of educators, scientists and developers creating immersive educational tools that make the invisible visible and the abstract tangible.

Education-first,
research-derived

Life science education faces a specific challenge: the phenomena at its core — molecular interactions, cellular processes, metabolic pathways — are not only complex but fundamentally invisible. Diagrams and lectures can describe them, but they cannot convey scale, dynamics or spatial relationships in the way a well-designed immersive experience can.

Our work begins with the science. Every application is grounded in real research data — electron microscopy, confocal imaging, molecular modelling — and developed in close collaboration with the researchers and educators who know it best.

We design around threshold concepts: the pivotal ideas that, once understood, unlock a student's ability to progress. These are the concepts students most often struggle with — and where immersive experience has the greatest potential to make a difference.

The result is content that is scientifically rigorous, educationally purposeful, and genuinely engaging to learn from.

01

Academic Roots

Founded within the University of Glasgow life science faculty. Our team includes professional educators with specialist subject knowledge who have taught the very concepts our applications address.

02

Research-Grade Data

We source primary data directly from researchers — microscopy images, 3D reconstructions, molecular datasets — and render it faithfully in the virtual environment.

03

Converge Challenge 2024

Selected for Scotland's leading university spin-out competition, supporting our development as a commercial venture alongside our academic partnership work.

University of Glasgow XR Services

XR Life Science is based at the University of Glasgow. We support researchers and educators across the life sciences — from bespoke visualisations to full interactive applications deployed at scale.
